Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

Hot Permeability
For the food, industrial, aerospace, pharmaceutical and other industries

    Vapour permeability and temperature

Vapour permeability can cause a huge number of problems in the real world.  For example, how quickly food, cosmetics or pharmaceuticals go off.  How comfortable sports clothes are, how well seals actually seal, how quickly paint (or concrete) dries, why some things smell of petrol and why mould grows in some places.  Controlling these is a multi-billion-pound industry and Versaperm is a technology leader in how it’s done and how it varies with temperature.

Versaperm’s systems can measure vapour permeability and the way this varies with temperature from -80 to 1100 C (and from 0 to 300 bar pressure).  Greater ranges are available on demand. The system can follow specific programmed temperature changes or simulate diurnal, seasonal and other cycles.

The system is fast, simple to use and accurate in the PPM (Parts per Million) to PPB ranges and will optionally measure several products, materials, seals, enclosures, components or packages at a single time.

It uses a mass spectrometer and is able to measure vapour permeability for every single vapour in general use including water vapour, oxygen, hydrocarbons, aromatics, CO2 and solvents.

This gives designers and manufacturers the ability to test and effectively eliminate problems with their products across almost all standard and most non-standard environmental and operational conditions.

The company also runs consultancy and laboratory services which offer advice on permeability in complex cases or where the volume or logistics do not mandate a dedicated instrument.
